With the start of the holiday season comes the time when we are usually afraid to step on scales. Of course, holidays are awesome and they are usually the time when we spend time with our friends and family, receive lots of gifts and enjoy the company of our love ones. But, at the same time it is the time of the year when we eat most of the soul and fatty foods that taste amazing, but are not good for our bodies and our health in general.
Since most of us will be fighting with excess weight right after the holidays, here is a short list of tips that can actually help you lose stubborn belly fat:
1. Drink lots of water
This is one of the first tips that you can hear from practically any expert or fitness professional (even the USDA has this tip as part of their guidelines) and for a good reason – drinking just eight 8-oz glasses of water every day will not only help you preserve the weight that you have, but it will also help you lose weight. Furthermore, experts say that you should also start to notice changes in your skin and nails.
2. Keep an eye on portions
Trying to stay slim or trying to lose weight during the holidays is practically impossible and there is one reason why – portion sizes. Since we are in the company of our friends and family, we tend to forget about portion sizes or sometimes we all tend to go to the kitchen for second or third helpings, which is not good. Don’t get us wrong, there is nothing wrong in eating a slice of your favorite pie, but eating half of that pie is something that you shouldn’t do.
3. Start with a plan
Everything you do in your life requires some plan – from simple grocery shopping to important tasks at work, so why don’t you create a plan for weight loss? Having such plan can help you focus on your goals easier and you will be able to reach those goals faster.
4. Concentrate on cardio exercises
Along with drinking more water, doing more cardio exercises is the most common tip for losing belly fat. However, did you know that doing cardio exercises can actually make you happy? When you are exercising, your body releases endorphins that make you feel happier, but there is one more thing that could make you even happier – seeing the results of your hard work.
5. Don’t start too fast
There is one thing that you should always keep in mind – losing weight and belly fat can take some time – do not expect any significant results in the first few weeks. Diets, juices and supplements will not help you lose weight in the long run, so you should not even bother with them. Losing weight starts with you taking control of your diet and your exercises and if you be persistent – you will surely see results soon enough.
