Would you love to get fit, but you hate the idea of joining the gym? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Joining a gym is a great way to lose weight and get fit, but it surely is not the only way!
We have decided to show you what other ways there are to get fit and neither one includes joining the gym:
Do yoga at home – one of the best things about yoga is that you don’t need a lot of equipment to start practicing today – actually, you only need a good mat and you’re set. Furthermore, if you don’t know any pose, there are thousands of videos on YouTube that can help you get started!
Use chores as a workout – did you know that you can burn lots of calories by doing chores in your home? Yes, it is true. Actually, some studies have shown that you can burn up to 50 calories in half an hour while doing the dishes or even 70 calories while vacuuming the house.
Get to know your city – this is not a traditional workout, but it will do the trick – simply go for a walk around your city, get to know it better. Walking is one of the easiest workouts a person can do and it does not need anything you don’t already have.
Bootcamp workouts – do you like to challenge yourself? If so, bootcamp-style workouts are perfect for you! Start by creating a list of cardio and strength exercises that you can do at home or at your local park – all you need is a good pair of sneakers.
Join a team – everything is easier when it is done in company. Running clubs are now more popular than ever or if you would like you can join an adult sports club. If there is no place for you in the team, sign up anyway – they might need an extra some day.
Obstacle-course race – are you adventurous and would you like to try something new while losing weight? Then the obstacle-course race is perfect for you! They are becoming very popular, so it should not be a problem for you to find one to sign up for.
Take a hike – just like walking, hiking is a great way to workout and it does not have to be boring or tiring like those long hours in the gym. Find a friend or two, get your sneakers and be prepared to enjoy the scenery.
Go to your local track – if you like to run, but you are bored with your usual running route or running on the treadmill, go run at your local track – it usually has great surface to run on and you could try to challenge yourself while using it!
Think about volunteering – there are literally thousands of ways you can volunteer and help your community – you will not only be doing a good thing, you will also lose some weight while you’re at it.
