Losing weight is slow and hard process and at times, no matter how hard you try, it just seems that you can’t lose weight. For every person this can be quite frustrating and not losing weight as you planned might even make you stop with dieting and exercising. Experts say that everyone can lose weight, however, if you do only one of the key things wrong or if you are not doing something at all, that one thing might be the reason you’re not losing weight.
The problem is that every person is different and it can be quite difficult to exactly determine why you aren’t losing weight, but if you are really committed and serious about losing weight, you should find out. Some researches have been able to distinguish some of the main reasons that cause people not to lose weight and we have written them in the list below:
You don’t drink enough water
As you probably already know, water keeps our body hydrated, but at the same time it has a significant role in weight loss – some studies have shown that if you drink lots of water every day you will be able to increase the speed of your metabolism and if you drink water or eat fruits and vegetables that have lots of water before a meal, you will feel full and eat less.
You are not active enough
A 15-minute walk is always better than laying in your bed, however it will not be enough to lose a significant amount of weight. Actually if you want to lose weight you will have to do at least 30 minutes of exercise that will get your heart rate up – like running, hiking, interval or circuit training.
You eat too much healthy foods
Overeating is never a good thing, so if you eat lots of nuts, whole wheat pasta, olive oil, avocado or dark chocolate – you are still eating foods that have calories. Even though these foods are healthy, but you should still watch out how much you eat.
You only do cardio exercises
Most of the people, at least in the beginning focus on cardio exercises – like running on treadmill or doing sessions on the elliptical – and there is nothing wrong with that, but the problem is that by not doing strength training, these people miss out on many benefits – strength training builds muscle mass, strengthens the joints and increases overall metabolic rate.
You workout with an empty stomach
The problem with working out on an empty stomach is that, according to one research, your body instead of burning fat instead it burns calories come from your muscle mass. The problem is that the more muscle mass you have the more calories you are going to burn, but if your workout decreases your overall amount of muscle mass, you are losing both on calorie burn and you will have smaller muscles. Anyway, you should always eat before working out in order to have energy for that exercise and to keep your muscle mass.
