Joy diet – diet that improves your mood

Most of the people choose a certain diet so that they can lose weight and improve their looks, but, did you know that there are some diets that can improve your mood? According to lead experts, what you eat can affect your mood throughout the day. Because of that, it is very important what you eat and when you eat it.

There are foods that can signal your brain to release chemicals that affect your mood and can generally make you feel better. This is great for that stressful days at work or when you are already stressed out.

Ingredients like saffron, salmon, beans, cinnamon quinoa or blackberries are great food for mood and experts say that we should always try to incorporate them in our diet.

Breakfast – ideal breakfast for a day of good mood has blackberries and quinoa. If you don’t know any recipe containing these two ingredients you can try this: mix 1/4 cup of rinsed quinoa with 1/4 cup of water and 1/4 cup of milk (low fat is the best choice) and let it boil. After it boils, reduce heat and let it simmer for around 15 minutes. After that let it cool down for around 5 minutes. When it is cooled down, you can add 1 tablespoon of toasted walnuts, 1/2 cup of blackberries, 1 teaspoon of agave nectar and 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon. Walnuts content omega-3 that elevates your mood, along with milk that has vitamin D which increases serotonin in your body and quinoa has protein.

Lunch – mix 1/4 cup of roasted bell peppers, 1/4 cup of navy beans and 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Add 1 smaller can of salmon and top it all with 2 teaspoons of fresh lemon juice. This meal is great for lunch, because it will give you enough energy for the rest of the day and salmon is especially great because it is rich with omega-3.

Dinner – Paella! Sounds great doesn’t it? Fry 6 large shrimps with 1 teaspoon of olive oil. When shrimps are done, put them in a bowl and add 1/8 teaspoon of saffron threads, 1/4 can of crushed tomatoes, 1/4 can of chickpeas and 1/4 cooked brown rice. Let it simmer for 5 minutes. This dinner is great because shrimp have lots of vitamin B6 and saffron is known to help with depression.

This is a three meal plan for a great day, but you shouldn’t stop there. If you like these recipes, try to experiment and make meals like this, by combining these and your favorite ingredients.
