How to motivate yourself to go to the gym after work

How many times you skipped going to the gym after work? Do you find yourself exhausted and simply not in the mood to go work out? If this is the case, don’t worry – you are not alone. From time to time we all skip workouts and this is nothing unusual, but the problem is that if you want results, you have to be consistent. Depending on what kind of work you do and your workplace, you may feel stressed or just tired after you have finished working, but how to motivate yourself to workout in that moment? We have some suggestion that should help you:

Write down going to the gym in your schedule

If you are worried whether you are going to be able to finish all the things you need to finish that day, you can simply write down gym in your schedule and that way it becomes another task. However, if you are struggling to get everything done even without going to the gym, than you should consult with your roommate, significant other or other members of the family to help you with the work load.

Go to the gym right after you have finished with your work

Another way to make sure that you are going to go to the gym after work is to go immediately when you have finished with the work for the day – without stopping at your home or somewhere else. Make sure that you pack your bag and take it with yourself.

Change into your gym clothes before you leave work

When you are close to finish your work, get your gym bag out and go change into your workout clothes – by doing this, you will not only motivate yourself to go to the gym, but you will also save some precious minutes by not having to change your clothes when you get to the gym.

Prepare a motivating playlist for the car ride

Most of us travel with our cars to work and usually we decide on our ride back that we are going to skip going to the gym. One great way to keep yourself motivated to go and exercise is to prepare a great playlist, with songs that you love and that always make you feel energized. This kind of music can get you to feel pumped up and ready for anything.

Transfer your commute into a workout

If your workout is not too far from where you live, you could leave your car at home and go to work by foot or by bicycle. This is a simple and easy way to make your commute a workout.

Remind yourself how good you are going to feel when you finish the workout

Always remember that workout can help you relieve some of the stress you accumulated during work. Furthermore, you can remind yourself how you feel after you have finished working out – especially after a tough day at work. This is a simple way to motivate yourself every time you don’t feel like going to the gym.
