How to keep sweets in your healthy diet

Every person that has ever tried to stick to a healthy diet has found out that this can require lots of hard work and dedication on their part. Unfortunately, there is no way around it – meaning that you can’t out-exercise a bad diet (that is why you often hear that abs are “created in the kitchen”. For some people, having a healthy diet means giving up the foods that they love to eat (sometimes even daily) and this is probably the main reason why they fail at sticking to their diet.

But, the question is – do you really have to give up your favorite foods? The answer is no, but there is more to it. First of all, the problem with either limiting or cutting out foods you like the most is that it leaves you feeling sad or depressed because you can’t eat what you like. In order to prevent that feeling, you don’t have to give up all your favorite foods, but you should replace some of the ingredients with healthier alternatives. This only sounds difficult, while in reality it is not.

The only way for you to enjoy your favorite sweets while maintaining a healthy diet is to replace some of the ingredients with healthier alternatives, in order to consume less sugar, fat and in the end – less calories. With some refreshed recipes and eating in moderation, you will be able to enjoy your favorite sweets, while still being on your fitness journey. Furthermore, you should try to learn proper portion sizes and the overall amount of calories that you need to consume on a daily basis – by knowing these two things you will be able to plan your diet plan in advance, which should have your favorite sweets planned.

Please keep in mind that not all sweets are created the same, even though recipes might be similar. Try to find your favorite sweet with less creamy frosting, butter or nuts. If you are not sure what to look for, here are some amazing ideas for sweets that everyone likes:

Be careful when buying processed foods and desserts that have been pre-packaged, because both can have lots of fat and sugar inside – some even have “healthy”, “low-fat” or “diet” written on them! Read labels and do it carefully, there are now more than 100 different names for sugar alternatives that are worse than sugar itself!
