6 tips to help you start getting in shape

According to one research, it takes around 66 days to form a completely new, health-related habit. This seems like a really long time (it’s more than two months) and if this is true, than we should not be surprised that more and more people stray away from their path toward healthy lifestyle. In the beginning, you only need a small dose of motivation, enough to get you to go one more time in the gym.

If you are just about to embark on your fitness journey, we have prepared some tips for you, which should help you get started and keep you motivated to workout:

Treat yourself

One of the best ways to motivate yourself to stay on your fitness path is to reward yourself when you reach certain goals. Before you start, make sure that you define one goal (and make sure it is something that you can achieve, but also don’t choose something that is too easy) and make sure that you reward yourself when you reach it!

Create a plan

In many gyms you can sign up for workouts a few days or weeks in advance. While this option is used by only a few people, there is a good reason for you to use it also – when you sign up for a workout in advance, you feel obligated to do it, which is a great way to make sure that you workout.

Start working out with a friend

Working out alone can be boring and this is the main reason why so many people quit going to the gym after a short while. On the other hand, you can find a friend that wants to exercise and sign up for the same gym together. By doing this, you will have much more interesting workouts and at the same time, you will continue going to the gym because you don’t want to let down your friend.

Face your fears

Believe it or not, many people don’t start exercising because they don’t want to face their fears. They fear that they will not lose weight, they fear they won’t be able to workout properly etc. If you are having a hard time facing your fears, make sure that you surround yourself with positive energy and motivation.

Make sure that you eat regularly

Experts recommend that you either eat three normal meal a day or six smaller meals throughout the day, but, you should avoid skipping meals and you should always eat how much your body needs. By eating much less than what you need, you will only feel weak and you will not be able to function properly.

You should stop making excuses

When we want to avoid workout, we tend to be very creative when it comes to making up excuses. If you, for example, need to go to the gym, but at the same time you feel that it is the best day to do something that you don’t usually like – you’re just making up an excuse not to work out.
